Afghanistan, the time of the swearing in of the post-Taliban new government in Kabul. Hamid Karzai, born December 24 1957 according to media reports was named the interim leader until elections can be held in September 2004.,
Shelley Ackerman quotes news at the time, "It came in at 3:44 AM EST(1:14 PM Local time) just as the moon was going void in Pisces. I asked the reporter how much of a time lag between an event and the event coming in over the wires was typical, and she said 2 or 3 minutes, making it 1:11-1:12 PM Kabul time."
Dorothy Kovach writes, "I was watching the feed live on CNN and timed the opening from the reading of the Koran at: 10:45PM PST which would be 06:45 (am)GMT and 11:15 (am) Kabul time (4.5). However, there was an interruption of the CNN feed, and during that time the
commentator said that the ceremony was to last from that point onwards for 3 hours. This would mean that the installation of the government would have taken place at the close of the ceremonies, which would approximately be: 14:15 pm Kabul time. The first dateline of the ceremony from the BBC gives a time of 14:19 pm no location, however, this appears to be Kabul time.
"I have just received word from Mr. Rao, the eastern astrologer and publisher, that he has an unconfirmed report of 14:19 Kabul. Do you have any confirmation of time?"
