Biography

Canadian short-story writer, considered one of the best in the world and internationally anthologized. A three-time recipient of the Governor General Award for Fiction, her stories include "Happy Shades," 1968, "Who Do You Think You Are?," 1978 and "The Progress of Love," 1986.

The daughter of a former schoolteacher and fox-and-turkey farmer, she grew up in a small Ontario town, Munro was inspired as a girl by Eudora Welty’s stories in "The Golden Apples." Her own talent is marked with an ability to uncover the extraordinary in the ordinary.

She is married to her second husband, a retired geographer, and has three daughters.
