Biography
French conductor, best known for his interpretations of Brahms, Debussy and Ravel. As the co-founder of the Paris Philharmonic Orchestra, he was its conductor from 1935-1938. He also conducted the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1949-1962 and the Tanglewood Berkshire Music Center from 1951-1962. He was the author of an autobiography.
Died on 11/06/1968, Richmond, VA.
