Biography
Canadian writer, a best-selling novelist of "Never Cry Wolf" and "People of the Deer" in which he brought the first public attention to conservation of the Arctic. By 1985 his 26 books had sold over 11 million worldwide translated into 35 languages. A national icon, he ranks as one of the country's foremost writers of nonfiction.
Though some say that his stories are more fiction than fact, he spins wonderful tales about the Inuit people in the Arctic, wolves, whales, ships, boyhood pets and World War II.
