Source Notes
Arthur Blackwell quotes records by his dad in the family bible, "About a half an hour after 1 o'clocke in the morning in the year 1752 according to the alternation of the style by act of Parliament."
(Has Blackwell corrected this from the Annunciation calendar or should it be, properly, 1752/53?)
(Wayne Turner quotes a biography by Max M Mintz on G Morris fora date of birth as January 30 rather than 31. He quotes records in a collection of genealogical birth data from family bibles published in 1939. The time is the same;
half-past one in the morning. What makes me suspicious
about the date is that an older contemporary, Robert
Morris, was also? born on Jan 31 according to all the
sources I've seen so far. So the question is whether at
some point the two Morrises got confused, or whether Mintz, his source, or his typesetter made an error. A birthplace of Port Morris will get you a bit closer to the actual mansion according to Mintz.)
