Biography

British actor, onscreen from 1948 whose films include "No Highway In The Sky," "Doctor In The House" and "The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw." More received the British Film Academy Award for Best Actor for his performances in "Genevieve" and "Doctor in the House." In 1955 he was awarded the Best Actor prize at Venice for his part in "The Deep Blue Sea." He was considered equally adept in both comedy and drama.

More worked briefly as an engineer’s apprentice and fur trapper in Canada before beginning his film career. He did not become a popular actor until after the 50’s and service during WW II as a Navy lieutenant. More is the author of three books of Memoirs, 1959-1978. He died of Parkinson’s Disease on 7/12/1982.
