Claudio Monteverdi

Biography

Italian composer and music reformer who became the first great composer of opera and brought the madrigal form to its highest point of technical development in Italy. He published his first work at the age of 16 and was a music director in Venice, Italy in 1616.

Died 29 November 1643.
