Biography
American musician, a guitarist and original member of "Steppenwolf" along with John Kay, guitar, Rushton Moreve, bass, Goldy McJohn, organ and Jerry Edmonton, drums. The group first formed in Canada in 1967 as "Sparrow." After their first single they moved to California to play at coffee houses. When they signed a recording deal with Dunhill, they changed the name to "Steppenwolf," releasing a debut album in January 1968. Monarch left the band in 1969.
