Biography

Dutch teacher, journalist and Paris correspondent for Dutch papers. During WW II she wrote a remarkable and for that time period, erotic novel, "Rolein and Ralien." She was awarded several Dutch literature prizes.

Mendels had an active love-life, independent life style and became a favorite of the feminists for being the first woman of that time period to deliberately have a child out of wedlock. Her son was born in 1948 when she was 46, to pass on the family name because her complete Orthodox-Jewish family was murdered by the Nazis.

Mendels died 9/10/1995.
