Sy Scholfield quotes "Bertoldo Di Giovanni, Sculptor of the Medici Household" by James David Draper (University of Missouri Press, 1992): "[Janet] Cox-Rearick cites particulars concerning Lorenzo's astrological chart that also govern the design. Lorenzo was a New Year's Day child, born at 7:30 in the morning of January 1, 1449. In his horoscope, Saturn is Lord of the Ascendant ... At that hour, Mars is Lord of the Mid-Heaven 'and the most significant planet in relation to Lorenzo's rulership.'" Draper cites the book, "Dynasty and Destiny in Medici Art: Pontormo, Leo X" by Janet Cox Rearick (Princeton University Press, 1984).
