Italian soccer player, noted family, father of soccer player Sandro Mazzola.
Ironically for a man later to die in an accident himself, at the age of ten, Mazzola saved the life of Andrea Bonomi, later a defender for A.C. Milan, by rescuing him from a river.
On 4 May 1949, on the return journey from a game in Lisbon, the aircraft carrying Mazzola and the rest of the Torino team crashed, killing everyone on board and leaving only one first-team player at Torino alive.
- parent->child relationship with Mazzola, Sandro (born 8 November 1942)
- (has as) protégé relationship with Bonomi, Andrea (born 14 February 1923). Notes: Mazzola saved Bonomi as a boy from drowning
