Biography
French novelist and playwright with wit, cynical detachment and literary craftsmanship. His work included "Moon and Sixpence" as well as "The Razor's Edge." In WW I, Maugham served in the secret service and from his experience, wrote "Ashenden," 1928. A master of the short story and comedy of manners, he also wrote his semi-autobiographical novel "Of Human Bondage" in 1915.
He died on 12/16/1965, Cap Ferrat, France.

Jim Haynes quotes Walter Van Courtland whom he assumed had gotten the data from Maugham himself. (Van Courtland rectified many charts from the death date; as Maugham's B.C. in hand does not have the time on it, it is questionable whether the data was from him. Marc Penfield gave me 9:21 AM in 1978, but PC has 6:00 AM as spec. The Old-file has 11:20 AM.)
