American novelist, the author of epics such as "Back Bay" (1980) and "Harvard Yard," biographical novels like "Citizen Washington, " (1991) , historical novels about national institutions like Annapolis, and screenplays..
He entered Harvard University in 1968, graduating in 1972, and he subsequently earned his MFA from University of Southern California in 1976. He is married to chemist Christine Kunz on August 4, 1973 and they have three children.
