Biography
American poet and lecturer who won recognition for his poem "The Man With The Hoe" in 1908. In addition to this award winning poem, he wrote "Lincoln and Other Poems," 1901 and "New Poems," 1932. He was a California school teacher and superintendent for several years prior to moving to New York in 1899.
Markham died on 3/07/1940, New York, NY.
