Biography
American boxer who won the heavyweight title in 1952 by defeating Joe Walcott. During his career, he had a perfect record, winning all 49 of his professional fights. He retired from the ring on 4/27/1956 and was elected to the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1967.
Died in a private plane crash on 8/31/1969 near Des Moines, IA.
