Biography

French actor and director. He trained at the Comedie-Francaise in 1936 and was a member 1947-'63; an honorary member after 1967. Art director of the Marigny theater in 1964, he played legitimate theater from 1964, replacing Dario Moreno at a moment's notice in a 1968 performance. He directed dozens of plays as well as performing in films.

Manuel was married with two daughters. He had a second marriage on 10/31/1963 with two more children, a boy and a girl.

He died of cancer at dawn of 12/09/1996 in Plaisir, France.
