Biography
British actress born in Kashmir. Noted for her statuesque and elegant appearance, she is highly intelligent and well-read. Her first film of import was with James Bond in 1969, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." Her TV films include, "The New Avengers" aired in August 1976, "Sapphire and Steel" 1979-1982 and "Absolutely Fabulous" in 1992. Highly intelligent and well-read, at the height of her popularity, she wrote a weekly diary for the "London Times."
Lumley fit easily into the British upper crust with a first marriage to actor-writer Jeremy Lloyd and a second marriage to orchestra conductor Stephen Barlow.
