Biography
French ecclesiastic, a Trappist monk. On 3/17/1996, seven of monks were kidnapped from their monastery in Tibéhirine, Algeria and they were executed on 5/23/1996, reportedly by Muslim extremists. Their bodies were discovered on 5/30/1996 in Médéa, Algeria. In July 2009 a French general claimed that the monks had actually been killed by an Algerian Army helicopter and that the French government helped cover up the true cause of their deaths.
The seven monks were: Brothers Bruno, Celestin, Luc Michel and Paul, Father Christophe and Dom Christian.
