Paula Gassmann quotes the biography written by one of his daughters:"Jack London and his daughters" by Joan London (Heyday Books, CA: 1990). Ch. 1." Gassmann writes, "This time is taken from a postcard written by Jack London to his friend Ted Applegarth. However, the time is probably a bit off, as it took a while for Joan to breathe on her own, and there were a series of ministrations before she began to wail."
