Biography
British actress born in India, noted for her performances on stage and in film. A durable leading lady, she was an appealing ingénue in the '30s, a rather boring villainess star in the '40s and a likeable character actress in the '50s. Her films include "Lorna Doone," 1935, "The Lady Vanishes," 1938, "The Wicked Lady," 1945, and "Cast a Dark Shadow," 1957. She wrote her autobiography, "Lucky Star" in 1955.
