Biography
American surgeon and pioneer in cardiac surgery. .During WWII, he ran a mobile medical unit and won a Bronze Star. In 1958 he worked with the founder of Medtronic, a medical device company, to design a battery-powered pacemaker. He has conducted research and published works on cardiac patient management, heart defects and surgical procedures. He and his wife have four children.
He died October 5, 1973.
