Biography
American explorer, the commander of early expeditions, the first to explore the Missouri and Colorado rivers. He was famous for the Lewis and Clark expedition, beginning in 1804. Lewis served as the Governor of the Louisiana Territory.
Died from two gunshots 10/11/1809, near Nashville, TN.
