Biography

French sailor turned jihadist, arrested on 28/29 April 2013 by French troups in northern Mali.

Leguen (or Le Guen, islamic name Abdel Jelil), a former merchant marine, had converted to Islam in 1985, while he was working for the organisation Médecins sans frontières. In the years after 2000 he became more radical and traveled to Ethiopia, Mauretania and Mali. In an interview in January 2013 he told the French journal l'Express "I am on the path created by Osama bin laden". From the side of al-Quaidi, he is said to be under suspicion to be a French spy.
