Biography
American country and western singer who received the "Best Bluegrass Recording" award in 1990 for her song "I've Got That Old Feeling." Her tight, talented band, "Union Station" is a major component to the resurgence of bluegrass music. In 1995 they issued a compilation recording called "Now That I've Found You" that went double platinum, won awards and crossed over from country to pop charts. Her more recent "Forget About It" hit the Billboard charts. The major reasons for her success are her voice and her musicianship. A fiddling champion since she was ten, she has vocal gifts that are called "celestial" and "angelic." There is a fragility about her, slender with a shy smile, a blonde pixie hairdo and an earthiness in her stage patter. She's also funny - and the audience loves her.
Krauss is married to Pat Bergeson, who plays guitar in Lyle Lovett's band, and they have a son born in mid-1999. She started taking classical violin lessons at five and was first drawn to bluegrass by the vocal harmonics.
