Biography

Serbian politician, president on 10/05/2000 with the overthrow of Slobadan Milosevic. A soft-spoken legal scholar with little political experience, he rode a wave of popular demand to victory after the 13 brutal years of damage pounded onto his neighbors and his own people by Milosevic.

The son of a judge and a homemaker, Kustunica graduated from Belgrade University school of law in 1966 with good grades and a reputation for keeping his word. Nonetheless, he was fired from the school faculty in 1974 for unpopular political transgressions. He worked at the social sciences research institute and gradually became involved in politics himself, founding the Democratic party of Serbia in 1992. He is committed to democracy as an ideal for Serbian nationalism and seeks to resolve conflict by peaceful means.

Kustunica and his wife, Zorica Radovic, have no kids and live modestly in a flat with their dog and two cats.

Source Notes

Grazia Bordoni quotes data given on the Internet; no source; given as GMT. Branka Stamenkovic in Belgrade quotes a fellow astrologer who says it came from Kostunica, given on ACT 8/2000. Two months later, Nan Geary quoted Branka for the same data, "Source: birthdate was published in numerous newspapers, even confirmed through an interview with Kostunica. Birth time I got from one astrologer, and it's deffinitely NOT rectified. He got it long, long time ago from someone he doesn't even remember who. At the time, Kostunica was rather annonimous, and there's a chance that it's he that actually gave away this data."
