Biography
Korean national leader, the world's longest Communist leader who headed North Korea with an iron hand for four decades. Three years after the Korean peninsula was liberated from Japan's colonial rule, Kim Sung Ju took control and was regarded as a god-like figure, called the "Great Leader." He died on 7/08/1994 at age 82 and after a several-year period of mourning, was succeeded by his son, Kim Jong Il.
