French professional fashion photographer. In 1959, the photographer George Glasberg initiated him with photography while making him make the turn of France's cathedrals. At the age of 20 he became the assistant of the American photographer Richard Avedon. Subsequently he embarked on his own career, focusing on the women theme. He published many books of photographs, mostly of women. Jonvelle’s photographs are found in many famous collections of Europe and America. He died in 2002 from an aggressive form of cancer, two weeks after it was diagnosed.
