Source Notes

Birth certificate in Didier Geslain archive, 'guerre 1914-1918' pdf file, p. 15., gives 8:00 a.m.

Gauquelin Vol. 3/643. Data confirmed by Petitallot in Cadran No.23 from B.C., gives also 8:00 a.m.

Rémy Porte quotes in his book "Joffre" (2014) the birth certificate for 10:00 a.m.: "L'an mil huit cent cinquante-deux et le quatorze janvier, à dix heures du matin,...". He misinterpreted the birth certificate and took the date and time, when the parents reported the birth at the register office.
