Biography
French neurologist and neuropsychiatrist, chief psychiatrist of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Strasbourg and a member of the Paris Freudian School until its dissolution. A disciple of Jacques Lacan, Israel fought for the creation of an ethics committee in psychoanalysis.
He was the author of a number of books: "Conquering Cancer" 1978, "Lung Cancer: Natural History, Prognosis and Therapy," 1976 and "Decision-Making, the Modern Doctor's Dilemma: Reflections on the Art of Medicine," 1982.
Israel married on 5/22/1950. He died in Strasbourg on 1/18/1996.
