Biography

American Baptist minister and politician, Republican governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, and presidential hopeful in the 2008 race.

Huckabee is a conservative who does not believe in evolution, preferring the biblical view of creation though saying he wasn't sure that the seven-day process described in the bible literally took seven days as we define time.

In 2003 he was diagnosed with diabetes and, then significantly overweight, dropped over 100 pounds. He and his wife have three kids.

He announced his candidacy for the US president on January 28, 2007
