Biography
British writer and poet who wrote simple and direct, yet melancholy and pessimistic verse about human suffering. As a classical scholar and Latin teacher in London and at Cambridge University, he penned "A Shropshire Lad," 1896 and "The Name and Nature of Poetry," 1933. He was often a patron of male brothels in Paris.
Housman died on 4/30/1936, Cambridge, England.
