Biography
Switzerland Parliament voted Friday to permit women to end pregnancy until the 12th week, years after most of Europe has legalized abortion. (The Swiss only gave women the right to vote in 1971.) Closing its spring session, the National Council, parliament's larger chamber, opted by 107 to 69 votes to pass the measure. A referendum, however, will delay the law from taking effect for an indeterminate time.
