Biography

American legal professor, a former aide to attorney Clarence Thomas in the early '80s. When he appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee as a Bush nominee for the Supreme Court in August 1991, Hill swore a statement to the FBI that he had made sexual harassment advances toward her, including pornographic descriptions, a decade before.

Her case was not accepted and Thomas was appointed to the Supreme Court, 52 to 48.

David Brock's book, "American Spectator" went a long way toward the character assassination of Anita Hill, until, a decade later, he admitted that he had been designated by the right to destroy Hill's reputation. In latest book, "Blinded by the Right," July 2001, Brock confessed that he had printed "virtually every derogatory and often contradictory allegation" he could to make Hill seem "a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty." In view of this recanted testimony, Hill's dignity and serenity under fire is all the more commendable, and grave doubts are cast upon a member of the judicial court.
