Biography
French film director whose works include "Harold and Maude," "The Best Little Whore House In Texas" and the Shirley MacLaine TV movie, "Out On A Limb."
Higgins was a student at UCLA film department and wrote a 20-minute drama for his master’s thesis. The expanded version of it became the basis of the popular cult classic, "Harold and Maude," released in 1971. In 1978 he agreed to a cut in pay in exchange for the opportunity to direct his screenplay, "Foul Play," becoming a great success leading into his even greater success, "9 to 5."
He died of AIDS on 8/05/1988, Los Angeles, CA.
