Biography
American pop singer originally with the group "Shalamar" and then going solo in the mid-eighties when his career skyrocketed. He is known for his romantic themes.
Hewett started his musical career singing gospel as he led his older sisters in song. "Spirituality," he says, "is at the heart of my music. Real romance is always spiritual."
In addition to cutting several albums, he writes many of his own songs. In 2001 he cut his first all-gospel album.
