Biography
American writer, the author of "Feminist Fusion" along with other books on reincarnation and self-awareness. An occultist, she founded and works with an esoteric center, Nizhoni, the Light Institute, in Galisteo, NM in 1985 where she sells her books and tapes. A visionary and spiritual teacher of truly global stature, she has lectured world wide on the sacredness of life. Her 11 books have been translated into 13 languages with the most recent, "Soul Bodies."
A spiritual teacher and healer, Griscom practices acupuncture with golden needles. Shirley MacLaine is one of her fans after having past-life impressions during her sessions. Griscom was specifically recognized for her work with AIDS patients when she was awarded the Sewa Chakra Award on 12/02/1996 by The Indian Board of Alternative Medicines, based in Calcutta, India.
As a child, Chris traveled extensively with her father, an agricultural entomologist. She feels that this early immersion in nature gave her the ability to walk the Earth in connection with other realities and that her healing work has always been part of her life. When she attended the University of Mexico, she lived in a village near Mexico city. A local "curandera," a village healer, became a mentor at that period in her life, preparing her for nine years work with the Peace Corp throughout South America. While in El Salvador, the infant mortality rate particularly impressed her and she devoted much of her healing talents to the field of birthing. She herself gave birth to one of her own children in 1984, in the ocean, one of the first recorded women to do so. It was through her Peace Corp period that Griscom developed her now internationally famed acupuncture technique which is the basis for her work at The Light Institute.
Returning to Galisteo, NM in the early ‘70s, she studied massage and acupuncture. After she founded The Light Institute, it swiftly earned its present-day reputation as a ground breaking spiritual center for its phenomenal work in facilitating people's spiritual growth and healing. It was followed by the Nizhoni School in 1988, open to students of all ages who wish to follow the path of healing, wisdom and power.
In her 30 years of living in New Mexico, she has had six kids whom she mothers along with her students and clients.
