Biography
American politician, the Mayor of Portland, OR in 1973 and appointed the Secretary of Transportation by President Carter in late-1979. After a B.A. in political science in 1963 and earning his law degree in 1967, Goldschmidt was elected to the Portland City council, 1970. He effectively developed a mass-transit system.
