Biography

German civil servant in the Reich Ministry of the Interior. He co-authored official documents of the Nurnberg racial laws of 1935. As a government official and Party administrator, he helped form the anti-Semite laws. At the Nurnberg trials, he was defended by Adenauer who believed his claim that he tried to mitigate the legal measures demanded by Hitler to persecute the Jews.

Globke served as State Secretary of the Chancellery 1953-63, when he retired to Switzerland.

Died 2/13/1973, Bad Godesberg, Switzerland.
