Biography

French engineer and executive. A Polytechnique graduate, he was named Engineer of mines, 1949, Technical director, 1955 and Assistant-General Director 1958 of the French institute of petrol. He was Director of fuel products at the Ministry of Industry in 1964, Vice-president of Renault factories, 1965, Cabinet director of Olivier Guichard, 1969, President of the Board of Directors of the École Polytechnique 1974, Minister of the Industry, 1978 and of Defense in 1986.

Giraud was a Professor at the University Paris-Dauphine from 1981. He married on 7/01/1949; three children. He died of cancer on 7/27/1997, Levallois Perret, France.
