Biography

German Head of Radio Broadcast of the Reich, Minister of Propaganda under Joseph Goebbels, 5/01/1933. He became a leading political commentator from 1937, reaching a mass audience.

Fritzsche did war service as a private, went through college and then joined the German National People's Party in 1923. A year later, he became the editor of a news agency, and from there was appointed Head of the German Radio News Service in 1932.

At his trial in Nuremberg, he appeared to regret his role. He was acquitted of war crimes on 10/01/1946 and was released in 9/1950 after further review of his war record.

He published his memoirs "Hans Fritzsche Speaking" in 1948, in which he protested his innocence.

He died September 27, 1953 in Cologne, Germany, of cancer. He was 53.
