Biography
French royalty, the successor of Louis XII in 1515. He carried on a bitter struggle for years with the Holy Roman Empire, pursuing the religious persecution of the Huguenots. Intelligent, extravagant and ambitious, Francis had elegant tastes and was a devoted patron of the renaissance.
Died 3/31/1547, Rambouillet, France.
