Biography

British dancer and choreographer, the founder of the National Ballet Company of Canada in 1951. Early in her career she was a member of the renowned Sadler's Wells company, earning kudos for her performances. In 1967 she was made an officer of the Order of Canada; in 1985 the award was elevated to the rank of Companion. She died on February 19, 2007, aged 85, in an Ottawa Hospital.
