Biography

Italian politician, the First Minister of Italy in 1980. His four-party co-coalition government was toppled by a bizarre scandal in June 1981 when he was implicated with a secret Masonic group accused of espionage, tax fraud, illegal currency dealings and undermining the parliamentary system. He resigned after releasing a card file listing 963 members of the Lodge.
