Biography
French historian, a leading figure from the time of his thesis in 1911. Febvre taught as a professor at the University of Strasbourg after WW I, erudite on economic and social change as well as religious and political developments. Probably his most influential study was "The Problem of Unbelief in the 16th Century." His work also included "A New Kind of History," 1973, selections from his volumes published long after his death.
Febvre died 9/20/1956, Saint-Amour, France.
