Biography
French ecclesiastic, a Roman Catholic Cardinal, Archbishop of Bordeaux, France. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1961. After he obtained his doctoral degree, he became a professor and administrator at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse (1967-1972).
He was made Archbishop of Bordeaux on May 31, 1989 and has authored several scholarly books on religious issues. He was elevated to Cardinal on November 26, 1994 and died June 11, 2001, age 67.
