Biography

British musician with the rock group "The Who," big in the '60s and '70s. He played keyboards, tuba, synthesizer and guitar. Their rock opera "Tommy" came out in 1969. He later played solo LPs "Whistle Rhymes," 1972 and "Mad Dog," 1975.

Entwistle, 57, the eternally straight-faced bass player for The Who, was found dead of an apparent heart attack on 6/27/2002 in his Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel room. Reports state the band was preparing to start a U.S. tour on Friday. There was no sign of drugs or alcohol in the room, however the cause of death was a heart attack "brought on by the significant amount of cocaine" in his system, the Las Vegas coroner says.
