Biography
British beginning of the time-honored Bathing Beauty Pageant, conducted by chairman Eric Morley (9/26/1918-11/08/2000). Toward the end of the century it was considered politically incorrect but it returned to British TV in 1998.
The First Miss World contest was a special attraction for the Festival of Britain in 1951, held in the Lyceum ballroom in London.
Source Notes
Paul Newman in Astrology Quarterly Autumn 2001, quoting Douglas Burn in the AQ Spring 1972, "Nobody remembered the exact time the judging started but ... the most likely moment was 9:19 PM GDT as these events rarely began on time." The parade is estimated to have begun 10-15 minutes before.
