Biography

Canadian hockey player, lawyer, author and politician. He played goalie for the Montreal Canadiens from 1971 to 1979, helping them win six Stanley Cups. He took one year off to work in a law office, while holding out for a larger salary, which he eventually received. His book about hockey, "The Game" (1983), was a critical and commercial success, winning Canada's Governor-General's Award.

He was an elected Member of Parliament for the Canadian Liberal Party from 2004 to 2011.
