Biography

Italian Gold Medal winner in the women's 1500 meter race, Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. An athlete of extraordinary capability and natural talent, she has won ten Italian titles, for the 800, 1500 and 2000m. The records that she set in 1980, her best year, are still standing today as unparalleled, unbroken accomplishments. Dorio has won three Olympic Gold Medals, three European championships and one World Championship.

From 1991 she assumed the technical responsibilities within the Italian Athletics Federation and retired from competitions in 1992. Dorio is married with one child.
