Biography
English artist, socialite and daughter of noted author Charles Dickens. Although she had a privileged childhood, her parents were an unhappy couple. She married young, first to Charlie Collins, Wilkie Collins' brother. During her marriage, Katey had an affair with artist Val Prinsep. Widowed in 1873, she next married Italian artist Carlo Perugini. After her infant and her father died, she fell into depression. Despite her state of mind, she continued to paint and to socialize with the likes of J. M. Barrie and George Bernard Shaw. She died May 9, 1929, nearly 90 years old.

Source Notes
Sy Scholfield quotes the biography, "Katey: The Life and Loves of Dickens's Artist Daughter" (by Lucinda Hawksley; Doubleday: 2006). According to Hawksley's book, Katey's mother went into labour "on the morning" of the 29th and she was born 13 hours later (p. 9). As the sun rose at about 7:30AM that day, she would therefore have been born about 8:30PM. This time of birth also correlates with Hawkley's statement that Charles Dicken's wrote in a letter at 9PM that evening that the birth of his daughter was "just now all safely over" (p.10).
